Our website is an essential reference for anyone interested in joining us and we would expect all applicants to be familiar with all of the information that we share publicly. A generic and speculative application being sent to multiple recipients, that doesn’t accurately acknowledge our firm, its characteristics and our specific requirements is unlikely to receive any attention.
We have a full on-line law library and a full suite of accounting and legal software to make the firm efficient and compliant.
We have held the Law Society Lexcel quality accreditation since July 2014 and prior to that we held the ISO9001 quality accreditation.

Work Experience With McKenzie Law
We receive many speculative applications for positions generally and particularly for work experience.
The nature of our specialist practice means that will only offer a couple of work experience placements each year.
Priority is given to Law graduates who plan to qualify as Solicitors; and people who can demonstrate a keen and committed interest in our practice areas. Placements will usually be for 1 week and generally involve shadowing a member of our team, and may include seeing clients (with their consent) usually at one of our offices, and will also involve some routine office administration which is very much part and parcel of working in a Law firm. We will try to give you a real flavour of real life in a Solicitors firm. Short work experience placements are unpaid.

If we think you are a suitable candidate for work experience we will invite you to a short interview so that we can asses your suitability for a placement.
As competition is stiff (even for work experience!) you really need to try hard to stand out from the crowd. It is vital that you send us a detailed and error free resume or CV. We are amazed by the number of applicants who send us letters and CVs containing basic typographical, spelling and grammatical errors and even correspondence which is actually addressed to and intended for other Law firms – these applications are generally disregarded without response. An engaging, targeted, error free covering letter, signed with real ink (despite the high tech nature of our practice day to day) can also be persuasive. Training Contracts With McKenzie Law
We are currently reviewing our procedures in relation to applications for Training Contracts for 2017.
We receive too many generic and speculative applications to reply to them all – even though we would like to reply to them all. These types of approaches are generally not of interest to us.
