Vicki McKenzie
LL.B (Hons) TEP, Solicitor & Director
Even after 24 years of being a solicitor, mine is a job where you never stop learning. During my career I have helped a huge variety of people in a wide range of circumstances and I continually draw on this experience and the knowledge gathered. I think it’s important to help make things easy to understand when situations are difficult, circumstances are complex, or people are vulnerable.
My STEP and SFE memberships are both important to me and reflect my continued commitment to ongoing professional development, education, and best practice.
I am fortunate to act in the main, for nice, interesting, and affluent clients both local to me in Shropshire and nationally. I regularly deal with London based clients. I greatly value the referrals I receive from other professionals who put their confidence in the team here. Although fellow Solicitors don’t make for the easiest of clients, I hope it says something of the service we offer that we act for so many of them in a personal capacity.

When I joined McKenzie Law in 2012 there were many concerned comments about me working with my husband Niels, so I am pleased to say that we are still happily married to each other. Our children are now both technically grown up and although neither of them could be persuaded to become lawyers, they are regular helpers with office administration and client events. They are also increasingly responsible for the art you see hanging on our office walls when you visit. Some of it is for sale!
I am realistic about the world we now work in where we compete with unqualified and unregulated providers, and everyone who has internet access thinks they can just Google the answer. The world of DIY seems compellingly cheap, but it’s a dangerous place for anyone who is vulnerable or whose circumstances are complex. It is hard to convince people that information is not the same as knowledge – but while I still have clients who do appreciate the difference, I will keep going!
